Paris photo closed its eleventh edition on Sunday, November 18th. This edition 2007 was particularly rich and gathered 104 exhibitors among whom 83 galleries and 21 publishers of 17 countries with Italy as guest of honor.
Paris Photo 2007 distinguished itself by a particularly eclectic offer making a wide place to the contemporary. Beside beautiful historic series (the primitive clichés by Robert Hershkowitz and Hans p. Kraus, the subject of the portrait by Serge Plantureux, the autochromium Light by Daniel Blau, the series of Otto Steinert on Paris of 1949 and the Czech photography between two wars at the Kicken gallery (Berlin), The Parisian period of Kértész at Bruce Silverstein. The edition 2007 gave to see an outline of the world contemporary creation: of China (in the gallery Marella) in Japan, of South Africa (the gallery Michael Stevenson du Cap) in Latin America, from Europe to the United States.
Numerous strong moments punctuated the edition 2007: the multiple signatures of books those among others Gabriele Basilico, Lewis Baltz, Franco Fontana, Mimmo Jodice, Nan Goldin, Martin Parr, Karl Lagerfeld's coming in the evening of the varnishing for the BMW Prize - Paris Photo 2007 to the artist Czech prize-winner Jitka Hanzlovà represented by the gallery Kicken ( Berlin), The launch of a new competition " SFR Young Talents - Paris Photo " intended to put in relation five emergent creators (Takeko Fujisawa, Chrystel Caparros, Nicolas Krabal, Lida Ghodsi, Régis Cintas-Flores) with the professionals of the market of the art. Other landmark, the avalanche of exhibitions photos, of temporary events aroused among others by the stake in honour of Italy, which made of Paris during five days the photography capital.
The next edition of Paris Photo will be held in the Carrousel of the Louvre from 13 till 16 November 2008 and for the first time will approach the banks of Asia by putting Japan in the honor.
