Last year, the first Parisian Photography Promenade had coincided with the third anniversary of the creation of the publishing house Chez Higgins. The PPP 2008 does not specifically celebrate one thing, it simply renews the festival of photography and all that revolves around the image. The over sixty galleries and exhibition spaces which span the 15th district to the 18th district of Paris, representing an increase of thirty more participating exhibitors than last year, mark an important sign of encouragement for this still very young event. Enthusiasm, new talent, creative focus and passionate collections are the key words.
This year, the Brancion market will still accommodate the photographic book publishers around Chez Higgins and Filigranes, an honorary guest of 2008. During June 14th and June 15th, Un livre une image, Lumière des roses, Le Plac'art, Cyrille Deflandre, Tissato Nakahara, Denis Ozanne, Livre +, Dobkine will present their productions in company of the periodical reviews Images Magazine, Eyemazing and Latences. Fujifilm, the lead partner of the PPP will present solutions to photographic publishing.
The PPP is also the venue for Chez Higgins to present a selection of portfolios from the catalogue 2008 on June 11 in association with the Artcurial Bookshop. Two new category topics, Spaces and Vanities add to the already existing Témoignages and Erotica. These four collections will account for more than forty-five new titles.
The Artcurial Bookshop will host a preview presentation of the portfolios of Nobuyoshi Araki, Lionel Bayol-Thémines, Krims, Patrick Tourneboeuf and Nicole Tran Ba Vang. Guy Mandéry, art critic, writer, professor, cordially accepted the invitation to be the honorary president of the PPP 2008.
