While walking around during the Palm Springs Fotofestival in the Spring 2008, we were astonished to see the work of Susan Burnstine. Immediately seduced by her work, we asked Susan to show us more of her portfolio and she has indeed revealed to us her dreams
In spite of the restraints of a busy production schedule designed to bring you new and interesting artists, we decided to meet with Susan during an evening a few days after the event.
Susan lives in Los Angeles in a beautiful apartment where books and photography mix together. She welcomed us with warm attention, even if we were late! (very late, sorry again Susan). Sometimes the most difficult thing is to express my thoughts when I'm writing an article. The work of Susan is so dreamlike and deep that it's more effective to be seen. You can see for yourself in the movie dedicated to her and in her portfolio or by visiting her website!
Indeed, i can give you some information about her work experience. She comes from Chicago and it was her mother who offered her her first camera. Susan was an assistant to a top photographer in Chicago before moving to Los Angeles. She also won many contests and she's is frequently seen in many magazines.
In Europe, before having the chance to meet Susan, i had discovered some strange people who were using bad quality cameras or using brand new cameras after having destroyed or modified the lens. This is a creative movement and since this first meeting, i have met artists in Russia, Paris and now Los Angeles, who express their art as well as their feelings using this artistic method.
But in the case of Susan, and more-so 'On Waking Dreams' she expressed something more, her dreams or nightmares with great sensitivity.
We are pleased, Susan Burnstine to welcome you in our Fine Art community and we also send a special thanks to Patricia Parinejad.
