The PinchukArtCentre is one of the largest centers of contemporary art in Eastern Europe. Created by businessman Victor Pinchuk, it was designed by french architect Philippe Chiambaretta and opened in Kiev, Ukraine September 16, 2006.
Ukraine, the place to be? As powerful in his country as abroad Victor Pinchuk, a billionaire involved in many businesses had long ago decided to use his fortune for philanthropic purposes. With his own foundation he's helping the world and his country to be a better place (medical research HIV/AIDS, art support).
Since the beginning, with an international team, the Pinckuk Art Centre exhibits many artists from all over the world and helps young talent from all over as well. The private collection of Victor Pinchuk and the exhibited artists give the opportunity for international travelers, tourists and the Ukrainian population to explore a truly artistic venue in Eastern Europe.
For example, the exhibition REFLECTION was a great success in Kiev with more than 150 000 visitors! This exhibition represented the newer acquisitions of the PinchukArtCentre's collection: paintings, sculpture, photo and video installations created by the best artists of the 21st century from all over the world including the Ukraine : Antony Gormley, Andreas Gursky, Damien Hirst, Christian Marclay, Sarah Morris, Marc Quinn, Sam Taylor-Wood, Piotr Uklanski.
In April 08, Mariko Mory exhibited "Oneness" which was highly acclaimed and there are many big stars forecasted in the upcoming months.
