Born in 1954 Ton van Zeijl grew up in a small town called Kwintsheul in the west of Holland. On his 17th birthday he left school to find a job, but 7 years later he found out that this chosen path wasn't his future. While working as deputy manager at the Minister of Defense print shop he began taking courses at the Academy of Photography in The Hague.

John Vink studied photography at the School of Fine Arts of the Cambre in Belgium at the end of the 1960’s and became an independant photographer in 1971. Following on from this he joined the agency VU in 1986, where he was awarded the Eugene Smith prize for a series of pictures on the subject of water management in Sahel.

Bertrand Langlois - Gypsy Circus

The printing process, callotype, was chosen to match the subject of a traditional gypsy circus. This photographic process uses iron salts with silver nitrate while working from a black and white film negative. It gives the prints a quality that is in the 'feel' of this entertainment that has in it the origins of the modern circus.
